Buenos días a todos!

So tests are coming (ay Dios mio!) this Thursday and Friday. Below you can find some resources for our first Summative grade in our Middle School classes.

8th Grade - Thursday August 30:

• Study the test review passed out on Monday and returned on Tuesday. Be mindful of the spelling of your words because for each misspelled word half a point will be deducted from your final score!
• Recall that you can still gain some extra credit points by playing the verb review game.

7th Grade - Friday August 31:

• Your test review can be found here. 
• You can also gain some extra points by studying the four types of Spanish Music we talked about in class.

6th Grade - Friday August 31

•  We'll be reviewing our test review when we come back on Thursday, so make sure you have it with you when our class resumes.
• The numbers game mentioned last Wednesday can be completed for extra points (you must get a perfect score, in spite of the fractious controls).

8th Grade will continue to review sentences with two verbs, so make sure your notes are up to date in that regard. I'll return the practice sheet for review on Thursday, so if you're missing it, you can find it here.

7th Grade has begun to review the verb ser along with our adjectives. A video lesson on pronunciation can be found here.

Finally, 6th Grade will continue to discuss our likes and dislikes as well as practice using them in sentences and conversation.

Eighth Grade

• Burrito Builder is a game that focuses on conjugation. Clicking on that link takes you to a game focused on -AR verbs. For 10 points towards the next quiz or test, play a game of Burrito Builder on the Easy, Intermediate, Advanced, and Hot Tamale levels. If you can score 
• You must score 100% on Easy; 90% on Intermediate; 75% on Advanced; and at least 5% on Hot Tamale to receive points.
• Take a screenshot of your High Scores (click the PrtSc key on your keyboard and paste it into MS Paint), and email it to jlobello@sges.org OR print the picture and turn it in.

Seventh and Sixth Grade

• Woodward Academy has a simple Java game that quizzes you on your numbers 1-100. To play this game you need to take your time and only click when you're CERTAIN you have the right answer. Multiple clicks on the wrong choice will reduce your score. 
• Get 100% of your attempts/correct answers and turn it in for 10 extra points.
• Take a screenshot of your score and paste it into an email or print it off and turn it in to me for extra credit.

These assignments can be turned in any time before the next quiz or test. 

Week 2

Saludos a todos - estudiantes y padres!

We're beginning the second full week of classes here at St. George's, and a lot of different things are happening!

• The Eighth Grade will be continuing their review of last year's material throughout the week. This Tuesday we will have a short quiz over verbs. This includes regular verbs, irregular verbs like ser, ir, and tener, verbs with irregular yo forms, and stem changing verbs.
• Our test over this unit will be given the following Tuesday!
• The Seventh Grade will be continuing with basic usage of numbers. We will quiz over the verb form "hay" and the gender of nouns and articles this week on Tuesday the 21st.
• Our test over the preliminary unit will be given the following Tuesday.
• The Sixth Grade will be learning about the verb form "hay" and the gender of nouns and articles this week (see the links above for additional resources).

All classes will be moving on from numbers this week, and our next units will begin after we have our first round of tests. Come back later in the week for some special extra credit opportunities!

El Cuarto Tres!

So as we approach the 4.5 week mark in our 3rd quarter, new vocabulary, grammar, and culture is being introduced to our middle grades.

In the Sixth Grade we're learning:
- Adjectives that describe both physical appearance and personality.
- How to construct noun-adjective pairs
- How to describe ourselves and others with the verb "ser"

In the Seventh Grade we're learning:
- New, useful verbs found here.
- How to conjugate verbs with irregular yo forms
- How to conjugate the verb "ir"
- How to describe events that are going to happen.


In the Eighth Grade we're learning:
- Chores and useful adjectives to describe what needs to be done around the house.
- How to combine the command form with direct object pronouns.
- How to describe what's happening as we speak with the present progressive tense


Remember also that projects are due both with 6th and 7th grade this Friday the 10th. The 7th grade is completing their essay about activities during and after school, and the 6th graders are turning in their Spanish alphabet picture project.

Coming back to class entails a REINVENTION of our vocabulary lists (DUN!)!!

In the 6th grade we're discussing Greetings, Goodbyes, and Courtesy Expressions.

In the 7th grade we're discussing things we do in our free time.

In the 8th grade we're discussing clothes and adding a few new articles of clothing.

The 7th Grade Midterm Exam

The seventh grade has done a great job with their beginning forays into Spanish! Let's keep up that theme of awesomeness by doing an awesome job on the midterm exam. Woo-hoo! Excited about exams!
